We’re interested in hearing from members of the Association. If you have any views or concerns that you’d like to share with others, contact us and we’ll see that your voice is heard. Our first letter is from teenager Reed Sheffield.
Hello, my name is Reed Sheffield from Vanceboro. I believe that we have met before at Jerome Barr’s arena. I was also in attendance at the WRC in New
Bern recently with Jerome, Jesse Koonce, and others. Jerome gave my dad your e-mail address who in turn gave it to me under the instructions that I should send you some pictures for the Association.
I wanted to thank you and your husband (Editor’s note: Henri McClees and Joe McClees) for all that you have done and continue to do for the preservation of hunting with dogs. This is a great organization and you have put a lot of hard work into it. I commend you for this. It is imperative that we bond together and help fight for our right to continue the tradition of hunting with dogs.
I am 15 years old and I hope that I will be able to hunt for the rest of my life and be able to allow my kids to do the same. We are being threatened by many people and it is organizations and people like you that are helping to keep our rights preserved. Once again, my dad and I really appreciate and thank you. If there is anything I can do, please let me know. I am more than willing to help our cause.
Reed Sheffield
Editor’s Note: Reed Sheffield came to the NC General Assembly in the summer of 2009 and proved to be an effective citizen lobbyist. He is learning to be a responsible adult by owning and caring for dogs. He will be an informed, interested voter because he is learning about the importance of electing legislators who respect our values. We are proud of you, Reed!
